Artistic Journey Overview

Born and raised in Cape Town, Travis Raft is part of a new wave of underground DJs redefining South Africa’s electronic landscape. His journey began in 2022, when his dad bought him his first controller — a simple gesture that sparked a lifelong passion. From that moment, Travis immersed himself in the art of DJing, spending countless nights learning the craft, exploring genres, and shaping the foundations of what would become his distinct sound.

In his early days, Travis experimented widely — from deep house to techno to disco — until he realised his identity wasn’t tied to one style, but to a feeling: hypnotic repetition, subtle tension, and flow. His sound is built on old-school looping grooves and driving minimal rhythms that evolve slowly but powerfully, locking listeners into an immersive, rhythmic trance.

With guidance from Cody Meyer, who opened the door to his first gigs and shared key insights into the craft, Travis started performing at local Cape Town venues. What began as small club sets quickly grew into appearances at Minimal, Club 101, and the iconic Modular Cape Town — a venue that became instrumental in shaping his sound and stage presence.

As his reputation developed, Travis was invited to perform at major events such as Killer Robot, Lighthouse Festival, and Acid Garden Party, among others. These stages gave him the opportunity to connect with diverse audiences and solidify his presence in the South African scene. With the support of Ivan Turanjanin, who believed in his artistic vision and trusted him to perform at respected events, Travis was able to take the next step forward — turning passion into purpose.

In 2023, Travis founded Analog Undergrnd, an event series dedicated to pushing authentic underground sounds and giving space to emerging local talent. What started as a small idea soon evolved into a community — a home for deep, hypnotic, and groove-driven music that stays true to the roots of the dancefloor.

Blending minimal, techno, electro, and disco, Travis Raft’s sets flow effortlessly between eras and moods — modern yet nostalgic, restrained yet powerful. Every performance is a journey: raw energy meeting refined selection, rhythm meeting emotion.

His mission is simple — to create timeless moments that stay long after the lights fade.
